I have no man (because i am the man…or woman)

Today is the last day we stay in self-imposed bondage. If we want, we can move ahead and just do what God gave us to do. If we choose, we can get off our hind parts and just get in the water. Tip in, slide in, wade in, jump in… get in there and get to doing!

The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”

John 5:7 ESV

*** NEWSFLASH!!!*** We are not sick, not like we think. We are not helpless, not like we think. We have options. We do not stand in front of an immovable obstacle. We may have no gatekeepers, no ushers, no help… really, we may have no support. Problem: we think we need the support of people. The other problem: people who can really help us speed up the process for us, to get where we want.

Focusing on the lack of help… or having no man to help us in the water… is a big distraction with consequences. We start to compare timelines, and if we watch others too long, we start to whine. We also start to get intimidated by our tasks, they look impossible without help. We start to convince ourselves that we need help. Then if we pray about it, we pray about the help of people we think we need… not the help of Holy Spirit to guide us to completion.

I know this firsthand because this is where my mind has been for the past several months. Waiting for help from people. When I looked at what I needed to do… which was also what I was gifted and trained to do, I started to sink in my mind. I had encouragers and enablers, but no gatekeepers — You know, people to open the gate and let me in to new places. I felt abandoned, though the truth was that I did not think I had the energy to make my own Genesis. That is, to create my life and to build it according to God’s blueprint on my heart.

Look at what Jesus says about His life. I think we can take a lesson.

No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

John 10:18 ESV

***NEWSFLASH!!!*** We have power, and no one takes our lives and futures from us except we give our lives and futures away. We have the power to lay down and let our lives happen to us, and God will respond in accordance to our lack of action. We also have the power to take up our lives and build the beautiful vision God showed us, spoke over us, and planted in our hearts. This is the charge we receive from the Father as citizens of His Kingdom.

Now, this is the last day we whine about having no help. With God, all things are possible. Holy Spirit is our helper, and He is with us right now. We have God’s grace, which abounds toward us to be sufficient for every one of our tasks.

So, what’s your choice today? You are the man. You are the woman. I am the woman. No more waiting for permission to express our Godlikeness through the building and fashioning of our lives. Shake yourself. Pick up the task. And DO. Do the Word. Do the prophecy. Do through preparation for the manifestation of God’s promise. God is in you. Let’s make all these do’s done. Selah.

  1. Such an on time word!! In this season where God has given us some down time, we are now able to sit before him & let him be our guide even when we don’t have help! No more excuses! Thank you Jesus!
