Join the Resistance (Lawlessness conclusion)

I had the honor to preach a message called “Join the Resistance.” The scripture emphasis was from 1 Peter 5:6-11. Here it is in the English Standard Version.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. [emphasis added]

Beloved, commit this to memory. Meditate on it. Let it take root in our hearts so we can draw from it when necessary.

This is the concluding entry in the lawlessness series. Please, make time to read them all.

  1. Lawlessness, the Intro
  2. Lawlessness…. some context

I believe we find proper warning as well as the opportunity to build well on our lives’ foundations as we walk with the Lord in this age. Let’s not underestimate our ability through Jesus to walk in victory and resist the devil with firm faith and confidence in the fellowship of the faith. This is the desired position.

We dare not overestimate ourselves, and presume immunity to lawlessness. One of the open doors to lawlessness is OPINION. When we ride our opinion, when we refuse to hear and consider another way, when we build a supposed faith in God based on our experience alone, then we begin a detour onto a lawless path.

We must resist. Note the scripture passage. We resist from a firm place of faith… not binding and loosing, not declaration, not antics. We resist first in soul conviction with God. (Don’t miss that!) We resist 1) from a firm place of faith, fueled by 2) the knowledge that suffering and demonic provocation is common among the saints worldwide.

DID YOU SEE THAT?

Our little opinions…. render no assistance to resist the devil. Testimony and the blood of the Lamb are for overcoming, not resistance. But firm faith and awareness of worldwide suffering by the saints. WOW.

Romans 10:17 ESV — So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

We cannot believe God in this age by experience alone. We only believe and please God by faith. Firm faith helps us resist. Faith comes by God’s Word. No Word life Beloved, and there is no resistance. Let’s not be flaky or faulty or irresponsible or unstable in our faith, for it can lead us to lawlessness.

photo-kyle glennOur world is full of it. Our churches accept it in the name of love and tolerance, but it offends the word of God. We refuse to read and study the Word, so we move away from authentic teaching. We want to hear a “prophetic” word, but determine the prophetic by how God wants to BLESS us or give us FAVOR. This is error, Loved Ones, because we can turn a deaf ear to the RIGHTEOUS INSTRUCTION that will help us live, resist the devil, and truly with power stay in the blessed flow of God for spiritual AND natural manifestations.

CONDITION #1: BUILD ON SOLID FOUNDATION AND BUILD FIRM FAITH

24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25 ESV, emphasis added)

CONDITION #2: BUILD ON SAND, AND HAVE WEAK OR LITTLE FAITH

26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:26-27 ESV, emphasis added)

If we do not prepare our spiritual houses well, then the storms will take us out. Many today build beautifully, but on sand, and the scripture says that the winds and rains will beat the house….and great will be the fall of the house. We have a choice. We can build on solid foundations. We do not have to build on sand.

Let everyone who has an ear to hear, obey the word of God.

Selah, and love to all.
