Don’t Be Angry with Your Answered Prayer (reflection)

My mind, like yours, catalogs thoughts all day. At certain thoughts, I utter prayers to the Father. This week one of my thoughts-turned-prayer was

Lord, please help me not to resent how long I waited that I become angry with my answered prayer.

angryYeah. It got me too. Proverbs 13:12 says that deferred hope makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes it’s like a tree of life — a whole renewal of life happens when we receive what we hope for over time.

Psalm 37:5 tells us to commit our way (life) to God and trust Him and He will bring it to pass. If you’re like me, you need details and the abstract big picture means nothing without them. If you’re NOT like me, then maybe you’ll stop your frustration with the people coming to your mind now.

Just something to share…and maybe you’ll consider offering this to the Lord in prayer. I asked Him to take my anger and committed my way and yielded my need for details…AGAIN. Maybe you need to do the same, or encourage someone else.

Either way, we know the wait takes energy and strength from us…even if we wait the right way (hence the renewing of strength when we wait on the Lord). But when the desire comes, train your brain for gratitude and application of valuable lessons learned instead of resentment for the wait. It is worth it. It will be worth it. AND GOD WILL MAKE EVERY THING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME (Eccl. 3:11a).

Shake yourself, put on some strength and choose faith. Cast down all that False Evidence Appearing Real (fear) and stand on God’s word — the logos — so He can breathe on it and inspire the rhema in your spirit.

Selah, and love to all.
