Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come on, let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will intervene for us. Nothing can prevent the LORD from delivering, whether by many or by a few.” ~ 1 Samuel 14:6 New English Translation (emphasis added)
I started to aim this thought at all my Gifted Girls, but it’s an exhortation for us all. Read this verse again. Jonathan PLUS ONE moved out to conquer, and Jonathan declared…
1) the Lord’s intervention,
2) His limitless ability and
3) His lack of concern for numbers.
Consider this verse in the New American Standard Bible.
Then Jonathan said to the young man who was carrying his armor, “Come and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; perhaps the LORD will work for us, for the LORD is not restrained to save by many or by few.” (emphasis added)
Wow, right?! THE LORD IS NOT RESTRAINED. Selah.
No really. Selah. The Lord is not RESTRAINED.
So, you have one assistant. Oh, you don’t have an assistant? Or, you have small team. Maybe you are still a little off-balance because you had a force but a situation came or a short wind blew and now it’s just you again.
HOW LONG WILL YOU WAIT TO PROCEED…if you only have little help?
Hmm? It’s a great question. I spoke with a friend recently, and shared a small lament about how much I’ve got coming up to do…that I believe Holy Spirit is leading me to get done. His reply was a turn on the phrase “I Got People.” He said to me, “Well, God Got People.” (Thank God for friends who refuse to let us wallow!)
Dear ones, so say I to you. Wallow no more… ponder no more about who will help and be on your team. THE LORD IS NOT RESTRAINED. In fact, there are several more examples in Scripture of how He chose the smaller crew to get the bigger job done. He is with us, so rejoice.
Love to all.
