I heard an amazing message that included Hagar. The woman of God challenged us in relationships to show grace to the men in our lives by embracing the situations they created or that existed before they joined to us. She blessed us greatly with wisdom from God’s word.
So imagine my surprise when I went back to Genesis 16 to read about the account of Sarai, Hagar and Abram and found a little detail that I do not remember if I ever heard preached.
After Abram had lived 10 years in the land of Canaan, Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife (v. 3, NASB)
Wait! Maybe I’m late to the party for just getting this, but Hagar the servant was not given as a servant but a lesser wife. Yeah, read that again. Hagar was given to be the second wife.
Maybe this just blessed me.
I’m not going to show a thing here. You’re intelligent. I will let this verse preach to you all by itself.
Selah, and love to all.
