Jeremiah 31:2-3 NASB says,
Thus says the Lord, “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness — Israel, when it went to find its rest. The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
The Lord appears from afar to say that because His love is forever, He is patient to draw us with loving-kindness. He waits for us —
to acknowledge His goodness
to believe His goodness
to work through the injuries of “surviving the sword”
to take our eyes off people and look to Him…and live
to share His love, after we’ve allowed it to transform us
…and He loves us
…from the everlasting eternity of forever (can I say that? feeling a bit open-mic-like, I guess!)
…from when He spoke the first light that shines on us today
… from when he formed Adam out of the dust of the ground and fashioned Eve out of Adam’s rib.
He’s loved us since before then. And because of the length, depth, breadth, and width of His love (Ephesians 3:18-19) He extends one kindness after another to draw us to Him.
The Clark Sisters had it so right — JESUS IS A LOVE SONG.
Selah, and LOVE to all.
