Your Rooted Identity

If any man be in Christ he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and behold, all things become new. On the surface, we all agree with that. As for me, maybe it’s the teaching I’ve heard. Maybe it’s the conditioning in the local church. But this tends to be presented as an automatic thing — that upon saving faith in Christ, my outside life should be new. Kapow! Kazam!

What I am finding is that the more I trust the Lord and release fear and other hindering baggage, the more things become new. The more I let old things pass away (like, be dead and buried), the more I make room for new life in Christ.

This new season (not necessarily beginning January 1 for me) is opening doors of greater insight for me. It’s bringing familiar scriptures to mind, but in a new light, causing me to anchor more in Christ and understand myself and His purpose for me. As my life levels out, and I settle in my place IN HIM, I am coming into greater understanding of what I am calling my rooted identity.

This is my life aligning with His original intent. It is me wanting to stay in that place, and live it like He designed it. And it’s me embracing the new He brings…without fear or hesitation. After all, what do I know if it’s new? New is not old. New is new. Old is familiar; we have history with it. New is not familiar…and it can rattle our nerves, but that is why we are ROOTED in HIM.

It is happening as He said. It is happening right now. Watch for the new, regardless of the lack of experience with it. Trust God. He will escort us Himself with peace into the new. And that peace will act as umpire (Colossians 3:15 AMP).

Look and live, Royal Ones. Look and live. Selah, and love to all.
