Kingdom Queens,
We are working through Scripture references to kindness and using God’s word to “shine our crowns”. Today, consider that answered prayer is a kindness…from God and from us.
Us? Me? Yes, Lady. YOU. You are the answer to someone’s prayer…and I’m talking beyond marriage here. I’m talking about all the needs that all the God stuff in you meet. You are an answer…so be kind.
He said, “O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham (v. 12).
Genesis 24 is my favorite chapter in the Bible. It’s the story of Isaac and Rebekah — how they began with a prayer, and how God sovereignly and KINDLY led Eleazar to Rebekah…and how her willingness to go to an unfamiliar place was a kindness to Isaac. But we’ll get to that.
Abraham was near death and his prayer was to establish his son Isaac with an acceptable match. He sent his servant Eleazar to his home country to choose from among his family. En route the servant prayed, and Rebekah was his answer. They went to her home and explained the servant’s prayer, and all witnessed God’s hand at work. It was Rebekah’s choice, though, and she decided to go back with the servant and be presented to Isaac.
When Isaac received Rebekah (Abraham’s answer), he took her into his tent. He loved her. AND, he was comforted after his mother Sarah’s death. (v. 67)
What’s the lesson? Approach prayer with a mindset to do more than “claim it”. Answered prayer comes with layered lessons. My challenge to us is to see and discover the kindness in the answer.
What else is God saying, other than yes, no or wait?
How did He speak and comfort you in the grief after the no?
Where did He send you in Scripture to speak softly to your heart in disappointment?
How did He help you balance and remain diligent after He opened the door?
You do well, Royal One, to pray…but now, go further. Pray and look out for His Kindness.
Selah, and love to all.
