At the risk of reading like a broken record, I reiterate that love builds a roof, a covering…and that through prayer. Not good feelings, because we do not always feel like love. Not good energy, whatever that is, because when we are tired we can hang up energy. Just plain love…it’ll pray. Let’s look at the word in 1 Corinthians 13:5.
The key word here is unseemly, which means indecency or shame and comes from a root that means — get this — INELEGANT. Yes Lord. It is not like the royal priesthood to be inelegant. I’ve got a couple paraphrases for this verse, based on the word studies. One is,
The other, stated in the positive, is,
! Corinthians 13 tells us a TON about love…and the most important lesson is that there is a way to do it right. That way to love is not our way. It is God’s way. Implied in these facts is the thought that if one can love right, then one can also love wrong.
Let’s keep challenging our conditioning and conform to God’s way of love. Before we call ourselves exposing “it” because “people need to know” and “it’s the truth”…let’s look again and take a bite of the 1 Corinthians 13. Let’s choose a different expression…even if it’ll hurt, or will not be reciprocated. Before we roll the neck (or the eyes), or send the text, and meditate on harm to possessions…let’s pray.
Prayer is decent. Prayer is becoming of a Kingdom citizen. Prayer is unselfish. Prayer is…ELEGANT. Let’s shed some weight and some toxic feelings in prayer, and take on God’s yoke of love. His commands are not grievous, remember? And this love is already in us, remember? Let obedience count, and let patience and Godly character be worked out in us.
Selah, and love to all.
