Hey Gifted Girl, You are more…

Good day to all.

What I am about to say has been rolling around in my head for several days, and I am aware that it may just be my opinion or soapbox. But, I don’t think so. If it encourages you, then amen. I know it encourages me.

You know, I thought to summarize it as a Facebook status or “explain” it as a Facebook Note…but those are too easily misunderstood, especially by people who have no Queen Life context. But Gifted Girl, you and I have been at this for a while. We are aware of weight and volume and cost of the oil in our alabaster box. We know the particular asset and liability of giftedness. In his song “Go Alone” that is in my regular playlist almost daily, PJ Morton has several powerful lines. One I want to share is the first couple of lines–

I’m not so sure if it’s a gift or a curse that I have been given to live with.

Sometimes it’s my only wish that I didn’t have to be so different. What’s the reason?

The truth is we consider this, some of us more often than we may want to admit…we won’t commit what may be considered as “sacrilege” or disrespect or a lack of gratitude and share our real thoughts with the masses. But to our real inner circle — and for the boldest of us in prayer — we offer our sincere feelings. When we do that, dear ones, we are counting the cost…again and again. And, from deep within we pull another “Yes Lord” and keep trucking. And that is only acceptable if we CONFRONT the truth in our inward parts (Psalm 51:6) and do not DENY it.

I’m not pushing isolation or rebellion or stinginess with the gifts that belong rightfully to the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:7); you all know me too well for that. What I want to say to you is this: whether you are a one-, two-, or five-talent servant, Gifted Girl, please know that

YOU ARE MORE.

Remember that. Please. It was a simple and profound reminder for me over the last month, and a little at a time it is helping me define the line between staying seating in wisdom and arising as the wicked queen (we start unit on how to avoid this seat in our next call).

You are more. When they only call you for prayer, and nothing else. When they only want your ideas or the benefit of your gifts, and no relationship. When they are content to relate to you only when the “spirit is high”, but participate in slander afterwards. When they ask or email or text or call you to do what they can do but know you are more visible or committed or disciplined or won’t say no (uh-oh!), and they “cannot” be available for you. When they have the nerve to ask why you didn’t respond in a timely manner, and you are still waiting for them to keep a promise. (LOL!)

You are more. How do I know that? Because the Bible says that regardless of the talent Jesus left you, He commanded you to multiply it and make sure there is fruit from it (Matthew 25:15-29). Because it’s in you to complete, you are more. Amen? Regardless of the actions and responses of others, we committed to God to complete the task. Let’s remain accountable and walk in our appointed grace for finishing well. Hallelujah!

The end of a season or cycle comes with its own tension or pressure. Do not hide, Kingdom Queens. Do not succumb to creative avoidance. Do use wisdom, but do not deny the line that is so clearly in focus now. This is answered prayer, and while some Godly truth hurts, when we buy it we secure our freedom (Proverbs 23:23, John 8:32).

What is beautiful about our Lord is that He teaches us things that help us serve Him. Let’s buy the truth, and invest in His truth. Let’s look to the joy set before us (of obedience, or right standing with God, of favor, of power with God, of signs and wonders following us) and endure our appointed cross. We pay a price to be the Gifted Girl, and we also have the joy of seeing some of the fruit that abounds to our accounts.

Let’s pray. Father, with glad hearts we thank You for choosing us (1 Thessalonians 5:18). We thank you for thinking enough of us to impart your sufficient grace (2 Corinthians 12:9) to help us fulfill our obedience 2 Corinthians 10:6). Be merciful (2 Corinthians 1:3) to us, when we count the cost of what You ask us to do. Be a comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3), when our obedience leaves us alone. And, be for us wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30) when we want to pull back our gifts to penalize others for how they treat us (and how we think they treat us). We love You, Abba, and we know that You know we have no where else to turn. You alone have the words of eternal life for us. (John 6:68) Yes Lord, again and again. Amen.
