A Seat of Cycles
Good day, Kingdom Queens.
We continue with another portion of the lesson on “Avoiding the Seat of the Scornful”. First we considered Psalm 1:1, and not taking a rest in an environment where mockers gather as a “foundation”. Now, let’s make the case — here is the first reason to avoid this mocker’s seat.
IF YOU SCORN, YOU WILL INITIATE A CYCLE OF SCORN…between you and God. Look at Proverbs 3:34.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but giveth grace to the lowly.
Yes, the seat of the scornful is a seat of cycles. If we scorn, God will scorn us back. When I found this verse I wondered why God addressed scorning personally. There are two familiar witnesses in Scripture that may provide insight. The Old Testament witness is Proverbs 18:21, where we learn life and death is in the power of the tongue. The New Testament witness is Hebrews 1:3, where we find that God upholds all things by the word of His power.
The system God put in place for us to succeed and flourish in life is based on speaking. To scorn takes a proud heart to take what God gave and pervert it…to speak death. A cycle is created then because each time the scorner scorns, God has a comeback. He repays with scorn. Cross reference Proverbs 3:34 with James 4:6 –
God resisteth the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Kingdom Queens, we face a very clear opportunity to be accountable to God’s Word.
Was it resistance we faced in some past efforts to hear God’s voice and move forward? Or, was it demonic harassment? Further, was it a “brick wall” or God’s “cold shoulder” (Proverbs 18:21, Message) we met?
