The Seat of the Scornful

The first seat we examine in this new series is the SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL. This was also the focus of The Queen Life Live event, and the Lord taught His people about the scorner. This and the next several entries will put us all on the same page regarding this seat. And then, as with most Queen Life challenges, we will have a choice to make.

We begin at Psalm 1:1.

Blessed is the man…that does not sit in the seat of the scornful.

  • Seat – dwelling place or habitation…environment
  • Scornful – to make mouths at, scoff…keep a constant opinion about, the effort to pronounce a foreign language

Without a revelation, I’m certain you can see where we our going. Our mouths affect our seat. (uh oh…) The Amplified Bible gives this rendering…

Blessed is the man who does not sit to relax and rest where the scornful and the mockers gather.

There is a seat for people who make scorn, mockery, and complaining their environment. This seat is occupied by those who are in constant possession of an opinion.

What is important for us is that the blessing belongs to the one who DOES NOT sit there. Wow! The suggestion is that for this blessed one, this righteous one, scorn is a foreign language. It is not like us to keep our mouths on everything and everybody. It is in fact an alien spirit that influences us to set our hearts against everything.

Are we high maintenance?

Are we that hard to please?

Is anything or anyone good enough for us?

Let’s selah right here….love to all.
