Leave no place for the devil

When we assign blame to an enemy, sometimes we forget we left the gate open. In the parable of the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13:24-30) Jesus explains what the kingdom is like in verse 24,

Jesus presented another parable to them, saying,”The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.

The Son of man placed us, the children of the kingdom in the world as wheat (vv. 37-38). Then something happened. Verse 25 says,

But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.

Instead of watching over the growth process of the wheat, men slept and the enemy of the Son (the devil) sowed his children into the world (vv. 38-39).

Reminder: Sometimes the devil isn’t busy. Sometimes, we leave the gate open for him to sow his bad seed. Let’s check the locks on our lives…and be honest about where to direct our frustration and/or anger. Let’s give no place to the devil (Ephesians 4:26-27).
