Posture is Important
Resistance & Righteousness Resistance PrayerAs children most of us received constant correction about our posture. “Sit up straight!” “Stand up straight!” Before we learned about the importance of calcium or the chance of later life bone disease we were challenged about sitting and standing up straight.
Our second session, called Resistance and Righteousness, put an emphasis on internal posture. We can call it character, inner strength or fortitude. Mordecai had it, and with it resisted a law to take a posture of worship before Haman.
Remember that what we learn about Mordecai we will examine to see its appropriate application for Esther. It is symbolic to the work of Holy Spirit in us. Keep in mind that Esther, although unaware of what happened (3:1-11), is still queen. Consider that as the temples of the Holy Spirit He may engage us in a battle without our knowledge or consent. Let us not be surprised, but let us maintain the connection with Him and be ready. When we are called up to be the solution in this battle, we must resist what He resists.
We must stand up straight when others choose to bow and reverence a dangerous enemy. The links above are to the lesson first, and then my prayer for all of us. As you listen prayerfully, allow Holy Spirit to cross reference for you and remind of confirming Scripture. Share it with the rest of us. When one considers posture, Psalm 1 is a good starting point. Verses 1-3 and 6 say:
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper…For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
